Programmes Offered
At IIM Mumbai, you can choose from:

Eligibility Criteria
Ph.D. (Regular)
You’re eligible to apply if you meet any one of the following:
- You have a Master’s degree / 2-year PG Diploma / 5-year Integrated Master’s with at least 55% marks,
or - You hold a professional qualification like CA / CS / CMA (minimum 50% marks) along with a Bachelor’s degree (minimum 55% marks),
or - You’ve completed a 4-year Bachelor’s degree with minimum CGPA 6.5/10 or equivalent.
A few important points to keep in mind:
- Your degree must be from a UGC/AICTE/Ministry of Education recognized institution
- Final-year students are welcome to apply (admission will be provisional until documents are submitted)
- Applicants through Master’s route must meet 55% marks; Bachelor’s route applicants must meet 6.5 CGPA
- Preferred age limit is below 35 years
- Reservation and relaxation are applicable as per Government of India rules
Financial Support (for Regular Ph.D. scholars):
You’ll receive monthly financial assistance as per Government of India norms:
- ₹37,000 per month (first two years – JRF)
- ₹42,000 per month (after two years – SRF)
Ph.D. (Executive)
This track is ideal for experienced professionals who want to pursue research without leaving their careers.
You can apply if you meet any one of the following:
- Master’s degree with minimum 65% marks + at least 2 years of work experience,
or - 4-year Bachelor’s degree with minimum 75% marks + at least 4 years of work experience,
or - CA / CMA / CS with minimum 60% marks + Bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% marks + at least 2 years of work experience.
Also note:
- Preferred age limit is below 45 years (relaxable up to 55 years for exceptional candidates)
- You’ll need to connect with a prospective faculty guide at IIM Mumbai
- Your research proposal must be approved by the faculty guide before applying
- Candidates with publications, patents, or research experience will have an added advantage
MBA (Through GMAT)
You can apply if:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates)
- Final-year students can apply, provided they complete their degree before joining
- You have a valid GMAT / GMAT Focus score taken at a test center
- Your GMAT score must be not older than 5 years as on 31 March 2026
